Artist Statement

 I've always been inspired by the beauty and majesty of the West, particularly our national parks. The timelessness and solitude of the rugged terrain always spiritually enriches me and stokes my creative fires and has led me to pursue photography and playing the piano in recent years as a respite from my career as a litigation attorney. A few years ago after stirring my soul in the Grand Tetons in Wyoming, I felt this overwhelming urge to create --- --- to do something completely different for myself. Suddenly, I wanted to paint, which I hadn't done since my childhood. When I paint, I experience a catharsis. I become childlike. I am seduced by color --- ---sometimes bold and screaming, other times muted yet taking on a different rhythm when juxtaposed with the texture and blending of other colors from my palette. The guiding forces inherent in my creations include the following:
